Act Like A Child

What if we measured our successes
Not in money but in apple pie?
What if we mourned the babies born
And then congratulate them when they die?
What if we went to work in P.J.’s
‘stead of padded suits and power ties?
What if we passed a man with no arms
And then turned around to ask him why?

What if we could act our shoe size
And see the world through our children’s eyes

Cause I have to be reminded
How to laugh, how to smile
I try to be responsible
But I need to learn how to act like a child

What if our parents went to parties
And our children waited up till dark?
What if we made a holiday
Just for throwing out our greeting cards?
What if we never stopped believing
We’d be models and movie stars?
What if we found a universe
Within the boundaries of our own back yard?

What if we could act our shoe size
And see the world through our children’s eyes

Cause I have to be reminded
How to laugh, how to smile
I try to be responsible
But I need to learn how to act like a child
