Texas
adapted from the
poem by Brian Townsell
adaptation and music by Matt Abell
I told her I was from Texas
cause I didn’t like the way
she looked at me
her tone of voice
the way she wore her dress
so I told her I was from Texas
and I said it like this:
“Texas”
She was from New York and Tokyo
She was from Milan and Paris too
Traveled all around the world to dress this way
Or so the labels say
I told her I was from Texas
cause I didn’t like her tone
when she put me the question
as if she cared to know
so I spat it off my tongue
when I told her I was from:
“Texas”
She was from New York and Tokyo
She was from Milan and Paris too
Traveled all around the world to dress this way
Or so the labels say
I told her I was from Texas
and I smiled in her face
it’s a good word, Texas
if you say it with some grace
pronounce it just right
it sounds a lot like:
“Fuck you”
