My little brother and I sneak
out sometimes
When all the arguing keeps us up at night
Cause we won’t be told we’re children, sent to our rooms
We’ve got feelings like you, mother, and we like to howl at the moon
Lay Danny low
Wait for the light to go out
From under the door
Lay Danny low
We’re gonna go out tonight
And they’ll never know
Some nights we guzzle a forty by the water tower
We rack a coupla pool games, play for hours
And we swore we’d stick together, thick and through thin
But I know if I had the chance, I’d leave and never look back again
Lay Danny low
Wait for the light to go out
From under the door
Lay Danny low
We’re gonna go out tonight
And they’ll never know
My little brother just vanished out of sight
He didn’t phone and he didn’t come home last night
Now my mother’s grinding her teeth, watching the door
And the cops said, “Lady, get some sleep – we can’t do anything more”
Lay Danny low
Wait for the light to go out
From under the door
Lay Danny low
We’re gonna go out tonight
And they’ll never know
